How to Miter a Blanket
Creating miter corners will give a clean look to any blanket. The importance of miter corners is that they prevent excess fabric from hanging off the perimeter of the blanket. In other words, miter corners create a sharp look for any trim on a cover or bedspread. Once your blanket is completed, display it on a living-room couch or on the bed in a master bedroom. Or craft a soft nylon trim with miter corners on a baby blanket for a warm and loving gift for an infant.

1
Pinch the upper and lower sides of a piece of stitched blanket trim. Slide your pinched fingers to one edge of the blanket.
-
2
Flatten the loose edge of trim against the outside edge of your pinched fingers. The shape of the flattened trim will create a triangle – with half of the triangle aimed above the upper side of the blanket and the other half aimed below, on the lower side.

3
Fold the two triangular flaps back onto the piece of stitched trim. Sew the folded triangular pieces into place using a cross-stitch pattern. Repeat steps one through three for the three remaining corners of the blanket.
