How to Flash an Iomega Drive to Liteon
Iomega is an external hard drive fabricator, whereas Liteon is a fabricator of both internal and external DVD/CD write drives. When you flash a hard drive of any type you install new updated firmware, which tells the computer processor how to interact with it. Typically firmware is only required when you upgrade to a new operating system or install a new motherboard. In most cases the drivers needed for the Iomega external hard drive are already in the Windows operating system, and the computer detects it automatically, but if this is not the case you can flash both the Iomega and Liteon drives with new firmware so the drives interact correctly with a new operating system or motherboard.

Back up any important files you have on the iomega drive, as you may lose information on the drive when you install firmware. Connect the Iomega drive to the computer via the USB connection and drag important files to a folder on your computer or to another previously connected flash memory or external hard drive.

2
Navigate to the Iomega website and click on the “Support” tab. Select the Iomega product you have and click on the option allowing you to download the firmware.

Click the downloaded firmware icon twice to start the installation wizard. Wait for the installation to complete.

Navigate to the Liteon website. Click on the “Support and Services” tab and select “Technology Center.” Click on your Liteon product listed and click the “Download” tab to locate and download the latest utility and firmware drivers. Click the downloaded icon twice to install the new drivers.

Navigate to “Computer” and open the external Iomega drive. Place the files you want to save and burn here. By keeping files on the external Iomega drive you protect them from potential viruses or corruption damage.

Open your DVD/CD burning software. This software was bundled with the Liteon device and should be installed under “Programs” in your computer. Otherwise, you can use the Windows burn option or download burning software like Nero, Roxio Easy CD creator or Burn4Free.

Drag and drop the files from the open Iomega drive to the burning software center window. Open the Liteon DVD/CD tray and insert a DVD or CD. Click the “Burn” button to start the recording process.
