DIY: Six Meter Balun
Common mode chokes are designed to present an antenna's feed line with the proper impedance. Altering the impedance of the feed line can be done inexpensively with simple snap-on ferrite beads. These small and inexpensive devices restrict enough radio frequency information to filter the proper.amount of external interference.
Instructions
-
-
1
Locate the coaxial cable's entry point nearest the antenna.
-
2
Unsnap each No. 43 choke. Wrap the first RF choke around the coaxial cable as close to the connection point as possible.
-
-
3
Snap the second RF choke directly underneath the first. Make the assembly water-resistant by wrapping both chokes thoroughly with multiple passes of electrical tape.
