How to Throw Sand in the Guard's Face in "Assassin's Creed 2"
Ezio is a well-trained killer controlled by the player in "Assassin's Creed II" who always benefits from learning new moves. Visit the trainer in front of Ezio's villa to learn how to throw sand in the faces of guards. This cunning move blinds and distracts guards, giving you a chance to escape a dangerous confrontation or kill the guards. After you learn how to throw sand, you can use the move when you are not holding a weapon.

Go through any city's front gates to leave the city. A travel agent stands with his horse and cart outside the front gates of every city. For example, in Florence, head east to reach the front gates and the travel agency. In Tuscany or Romagna, go south or northeast. At the travel agency, select Monteriggioni as your destination. You arrive at Ezio's villa.

Approach the front of the villa and talk to the trainer. Select "Special Moves" and then select "Unarmed Combat." This training makes it possible for Ezio to fight with his bare hands and throw sand at guards.

Find a guard. Unequip all your weapons and get close to the guard. Hold down "X" on Xbox 360 or "Square" on PlayStation 3 to bend down and scoop up some sand.

Release the button to toss the sand in the guard's face. Attack the guard, if desired, or use the distraction to slip past him.

Tips & Warnings
If you throw sand at four guards at once, you earn the Messer Sandman trophy or achievement.
