      Place the La-Z-Boy recliner in the sitting position with the foot rest in the down position. Tilt the recliner forward so the front of the recliner is on the floor and the bottom is facing you.

      Find the screw securing the recliner handle to the handle stem. The screw is on the back of the handle, pointing to the back of the recliner. Remove the screw with the T30 Torx driver.

      Pull the handle and the handle cover plate off the handle stem. Slide the new cover plate over the handle stem and against the side of the recliner.

      Slide the new handle over the handle stem, with the hand grip end pointing toward the front of the recliner. Secure the handle with the securing screws. Rotate the recliner back to the upright position.
