A platform stylist, otherwise known as a platform artist, is a skilled cosmetology expert. These professionals travel around the world to different events in the hair industry, demonstrating techniques such as how to perform new types of haircuts and different hair color procedures. Most platform artists work full-time for a salon, and then perform this as a side job.

1. Gain a few years of experience working in a salon. A platform stylist is very skilled at hair design, so you need to spend some time sharpening your skills in a salon before beginning to search for this type of work.

2. Decide which corporation you would like to work for, or if there are a few that interest you, try to learn more about those companies. The more companies that you're willing to work for, the greater your chances of being chosen to be a platform stylist.

3. Create a portfolio of your work. You will need this to show potential employers what you're capable of doing.

4. Attend trade shows to meet with representatives from corporations that you would like to work for. Talk with these representatives and impress them with your outgoing personality and your impressive portfolio.
