How to Market Your Restaurant on Facebook

Facebook started as a way to connect online with friends and roommates in college. It has since grown into one of the best platforms for businesses to connect online with customers and community members. Using a Facebook profile you can draw additional business and awareness to your restaurant. The site is a way to tell people about what makes your restaurant unique and appealing, but also offers a way to share contests and other perks with regular customers. Keep in mind it takes a lot of work to market on Facebook, so you may want to hire someone to help with online marketing.

Instructions

    • 1

Create a fan page on Facebook for your restaurant. Using an actual profile page limits your "fans" to 5,000 while a fan page has no limit. Complete the profile with as much information about your restaurant as possible. This includes location, menu type, links to other websites, news about the restaurant and the history of your establishment.

Add fans to your restaurant's page. Invite all your friends to "like" the page and ask that they invite their friends as well. Run contests so people "like" your page to win a gift certificate or free drink at the bar. People will visit if they know there's a chance at free goods.

    • 3

Share the link to your Facebook on other social networking sites like Twitter. Send the link to your Twitter followers with a message such as "We're on Facebook, too!" Ask other local restaurants, shops and hotels to share your link as well. Offer a link exchange where you will post their link on your Facebook in return. Contact local tourist boards for exposure as well.

Update your restaurant's Facebook often. You want to be at the top of your fans' newsfeeds so you are in the back of their minds when choosing where to eat that night. Add photos of dishes as they are sent out to tables or update the Facebook's status with the day's specials. Create genuine, interesting content that people want to read.

Create events for any sales or special events in your restaurant. Leave the events as "public" so anyone can click the event to see the information. Send the invite to all of your friends and ask them to pass on the word.
