How to Mount a Hanging Wire to Canvas Art
Canvas paintings are mounted on a wooden frame called a canvas stretcher. These frames hold the canvas taut when the artist is painting. You can remove the canvas from the stretcher and place it in a frame, or hang the canvas up on the stretcher itself. Either way, you will have to attach a hanging wire to the frame or stretcher. This is a simple process you can do yourself to save money on framing.

1
Position the two D-hooks in the middle of the fame or stretcher wood. The hooks should be about one-third of the way from the top of the painting. Make sure they are aligned with each other. The D loops should be facing in to the middle of the canvas.

2
Screw the D-hooks in place using the screws that came with the hooks. Framing wood is soft, so you can press the tip of the screw in and then tighten it with the screw driver. Screw in the screws until the head is flush with the frame. This will ensure that the frame lies flat against the wall.

Measure out the picture wire. Picture wire is a flexible, thin cord that is strong enough to hold your picture up. There should be enough wire to stretch between the D-hooks plus another 9 inches. Cut the wire to size.

Thread 3 inches of the wire through one of the D-hooks. Twist the 3 inches around the main wire to secure. Repeat for the other side. You are ready to hang your masterpiece.

Tips & Warnings
Nails, hooks and clips can be used to hang your painting from the wall.
Do not let the wire peek out from above the painting. If the frame is very small, reduce the 9 inch slack so that the wire is hidden.
