Base
-
1
Apply oil-free makeup primer to clean, hydrated skin. This helps to keep makeup on all day and gives a smoother finish to full-coverage foundation.
-
2
Use a brush to smooth on foundation. A highly-pigmented cream foundation ensures flawless coverage with a natural skin-like texture.
-
-
3
Apply a creamy under-eye concealer, then a drier-textured camouflage over any blemishes.
-
4
Blend on a flesh-colored eye base from lashes to brows.
-
5
Set the base by pressing on a superfine loose powder with a velour puff. If translucent powder looks chalky, use a yellow-beige tone.
Color
-
6
Apply eye color first, as eyes are the focus of traditional Eastern makeup. A smoky eye is not considered too heavy for a Pakistani bride, so makeup can be creative.
-
7
Line all around the lash line with a creamy black kohl pencil. Push liner between the lashes so that the eyes get crisp definition. Line inside the eye for a traditional look. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) does not approve the use of classic kohl and kajal due to ingredients safety issues, so use a creamy kohl-effect pencil from a mainstream makeup brand, rather than the traditional imported kind.
-
8
Press eye colors over lids with a flat eyeshadow brush, then blend with a softer brush. Create a smoky eye by blending a dark color around the lash line and into the socket. Highlight under brows and in the inner corners of eyes with an iridescent shade if desired.
-
9
Slick black liquid liner over the top lash line. Use a pointed brush to achieve a smooth flick.
-
10
Coat lashes with plenty of black mascara then apply a fine strip of black lashes over the top lash line.
-
11
Contour cheeks using a matte dark brown powder from a professional makeup store, or a matte bronzer. Dust under cheekbones to give a chiseled look. Blend under jawline or at the sides of temples to make face look sculpted.
-
12
Apply cheek color on apples of cheeks. A natural glow is usually the most popular Pakistani wedding look, rather than a bright flush.
-
13
Line lips with a pencil to give a defined shape then fill out with lip color, blotting and reapplying if necessary.

Tips & Warnings
Get brows waxed or threaded into shape several days before the wedding.
Red and gold are traditional wedding colors and many brides choose a red-toned plum eye color as the main feature. For a more contemporary look, choose a bright, contrasting eye-shadow color such as green, turquoise or copper. Pink and red lips are also traditional but a neutral lip, with the emphasis on beautiful lashes, is a modern take on a traditional makeup.
With olive or Asian coloring, foundations that are too pink show up badly in photographs. Take time to shop around for the right base in order to avoid this. A perfect color match ensures a naturally flawless finish.
