How to Make a Sliding Pickup Tray
Pickup trucks are versatile vehicles that are used for the transportation of people and to haul large items around in. Using a pickup truck to transport items around town is a lot easier if the pickup truck has a sliding tray in it’s bed. Construction tools, groceries and household supplies can be removed from the back of the truck easier if placed on a sliding tray.

1
Measure the narrowest width of the truck bed and the shortest length. Use an electric saw to cut out a piece of pressboard that is no larger than these dimensions. Cut out two pieces of 2-inch-by-4-inch wood that are the same length as the truck bed. Cut out two more pieces of 2-inch-by-4-inch wood that are the same width as the truck.

2
Place the pressboard flat on the ground. Place one piece of 2-by-4 against the side of the pressboard of the same length. Drill a screw into the side of the 2-by-4 to attach it to the pressboard. Insert additional screws along the side with the 2-by-4 every 4 inches to secure. Repeat this process to connect each 2-by-4 board to the pressboard so that a shallow tray with walls made of 2-by-4’s has been formed. Insert 2 screws into each of the corners where the 2-by-4 boards touch each other.
