How to Change the Light Inside My Whirlpool Electric Range
Whirlpool electric ranges, like those from nearly every other brand, have lights that illuminate the oven cavity while cooking. Some Whirlpool ranges also have a light above the cooktop area inside the control console. Just like any other type of bulb, the range bulbs eventually burn out, requiring replacement. Changing the light inside your Whirlpool electric range is generally the same with all of their models. Replacement bulbs for ranges are available at home improvement centers and hardware stores. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Unplug the Whirlpool electric range power cord before changing any light bulbs. Although you are not working with the electrical components directly, it is a safe practice to unplug the unit to prevent accidental shocks.
-
2
Open the oven door, and pull out the cooking racks. Rotate the glass bulb cover counterclockwise with your fingers and remove it from the oven. Use care when pulling the cover away from the bulb to prevent accidentally breaking the bulb.

-
3
Unscrew the bulb from the socket just as you would a lamp bulb. Screw in a new 40-watt appliance bulb into the light socket until it is tight. Slide the glass cover over the bulb and thread it into the rear of the oven until tight.
-
4
Slide the oven racks back into the oven and close the oven door.
-
5
Lift the front top of the control console toward the rear of the Whirlpool range, if you have a bulb in the control console. Grasp the fluorescent tube bulb at both ends with your hands, and rotate it forward until it releases from the tombstone receptacles.
-
6
Insert a new F1 8T8 fluorescent tube into the slots on the tombstone receptacles, and turn the tube until it locks. Lower the control console cover. Plug the range power cord back into the outlet once you finish changing bulbs.
