1
Wash your awning down with a garden hose and remove any debris from the surface or sides. Allow the awning to dry in direct sunlight.
-
2
Remove any metal rods or poles used in your awning. Use plastic zip ties to group the poles and rods together so you don't lose them. If you own a retractable awning, then the awning should retract with the rods and poles in place, although you should remove the valance before retracting the awning.

3
Unscrew the awning from the mounting brackets and fold by hand if you do not own a retractable awning. However, if you own a retractable awning, simply use the crank to roll the awning up.

4
Store the awning and its associated poles and hardware and a cool, dry area. Keep the hardware in a plastic sandwich bag or small box so you don't lose any valuable pieces.
