Fortunately, you don't have to lug that piece of wood furniture down to a furniture restoration shop or hire a furniture repair technician come out to your home.   • Furniture polish
  • Rag
  • Wood putty
  • Plastic putty knife
  • Fine-grit sandpaper
  • Tack cloth
  • Stain
  • Sponge brushes
  • Polyurethane

Instructions

      Clean the damaged corner on the wood table with furniture polish and a clean rag. Wipe away excess with the rag and let the rest of the polish soak in before continuing.

      Apply wood putty to any gouges or cracks using a plastic putty knife and let it dry according to the manufacturer's directions.

      Gently abrade the wood corner with fine-grit sandpaper to smooth the wood putty and remove any scratches in the wood. Then wipe down the corner with a tack cloth.

      Apply a coat of matching stain to the wood corner with a sponge brush and let it dry for two to three hours. Then add more coats as necessary to make the stain match the rest of the furniture.

      Apply a light coat of polyurethane to the entire table top, going in the same direction as the wood grain with a clean, unused sponge brush and allow it to dry.
