How to Crochet Bezel Wire

Bezel wire is a flat wire that is available in widths from 1 to 30mm in width. The bezel wire increases in width the larger the number. The smaller widths are easier to crochet. The same process to crochet yarn is used to crochet bezel wire. The stitches are exactly the same. The end product is very different. Select a crochet hook made from metal to crochet bezel wire. The edges of the wire will scratch and cut plastic crochet hooks. The bezel will also scratch metal crochet hooks, so use an old hook to complete the project.

Instructions

    • 1

Manipulate the bezel wire to create a slipknot approximately 4 inches from the end.

    • 2

Slide the slipknot over the end of the crochet hook. Pull the end of the bezel wire until the loop is snug around the crochet hook shaft but still moves freely.

    • 3

Chain stitch the bezel wire to the desired length. The holes in the chain are open and large due to the width of the bezel wire.

    • 4

Crochet a second row of bezel wire in the chain stitch. Work in the center loop of each stitch. Complete all crochet stitches using the same techniques as crocheting with yarn.

    • 5

Cut the bezel wire approximately 3 inches from the last stitch. Pull the end of the bezel wire through the loop. Pull the end of the bezel wire tight to create a knot.

    • 6

Cut the ends of the bezel wire as close to the crochet stitches as possible to complete.

Tips & Warnings

  • Adjust the size of the crochet hook according to the width of the bezel. Larger crochet hooks will accommodate larger widths of bezel.
