How to Fix Flickering on a Flat Screen TV?

Your flat screen TV may flicker when the picture motion setting is not in the correct mode. Most TVs have recommended modes for different types of programming. For example, sporting events typically require a fast picture mode, while regular broadcast programs commonly use a standard mode. Review some tips to watch the natural fluid movement of any program minus the flickering on your flat screen TV.

Press the "Home" button on the remote control.

Press the left or right arrow button, and select "Settings."

Press the up or down arrow button, and select "Video Options." Press the button in center of the arrow button navigation wheel on the remote control.

Press the up or down arrow button, and select "Motion Naturalizer."

Use the arrow buttons and select "Off."

Press the "Home" button.

Press the "Home" button again only if flickering continues to display on your flat screen TV.

Press the left or right arrow button and select "Settings."

Press the up or down arrow button and select "Video Options." Press the button in center of the arrow button navigation wheel on the remote control.

Press the up or down arrow button and select "CineMotion."

Use the arrow buttons and select "Auto 1" for the picture to display standard smoother motion movement. Other options include "Auto 2" for movement close to the original; and "Off" to turn off this feature.

Press the "Home" button when finished.

Tips

Your TV's video setting options will certainly help reduce or eliminate flickering; however, sometimes inferior cable lines will bring back those symptoms. Check the wear on your cable cords annually. If damaged, contact your cable or satellite TV provider, and put in a repair ticket. Verify that it will no extra charge before setting up the appointment.

These steps apply to some Sony projection model flat screen TVs; however many other models and brands have similar steps. Please refer to your TV user's manual for precise steps to stop the flickering on your particular flat screen TV.
