How to Fix Scuffed Plastic on Car Seats

How to Fix Scuffed Plastic on Car Seats thumbnail
If the car is used regularly, the seats will end up scuffed.

Pets, children and general wear and tear can lead to any pristine car interior to start looking faded and aged. The most problematic of these are scuffs on car seat vinyl or plastic as these come up a different color to the rest of the interior and stand out more. Although no measure is going to remove a more serious scuff mark completely, there are a range of products that can at the very least reduce the appearance of damage.

Instructions

    • 1

Clean the area of the seat affected using standard cleaning products. Vacuum away any dust that may get trapped in the scuff mark and wipe clean using warm water and detergent.

    • 2

Apply some vinyl cleaner to a lint-free cloth and scrub the affected area vigorously. Most vinyl cleaners come in aerosol form and can be sprayed directly onto the cloth.

    • 3

Repeat the last step with vinyl cleaner on a soft bristled brush if the scuff is stubborn. This will act as an extra abrasive to remove the rough edges.

    • 4

Buff the area with vinyl cleaner on a microfiber cloth to bring back the shine to the plastic detailing on the car seat.
