DIY Curling Iron Hanger

It's easy to make a place to store your curling iron.

A curling iron hanger is a device that conveniently holds and stores a hair curling appliance. The hanger will keep loose wires neatly tucked away, leaving you with more free space in your bedroom or bathroom. Store-bought curling iron hangers can be costly, but you can create your own hanger at home without breaking the bank. All of the materials required to create a curling iron hanger can be purchased from hardware stores or from online retailers.

Things You'll Need

Instructions

    • 1

Take your curling irons to a hardware store and measure them against the PVC piping. You need two different sizes of piping -- one that fits snugly around the plug and one that fits around the curling iron itself. The plug PVC piping should be 1 1/2 inches long, while the curling iron piping should be 2 inches long.

    • 2

Cut one piece of hook-and-loop tape that is 2 inches long, and another that is 1 1/2 inches long.

    • 3

Peel the hook side of the tape apart from the loop side of the 2-inch piece of tape. Stick the loop side vertically onto the area where you want the curling iron hanger to be positioned. Ensure that it is high enough so the curling iron won't touch the floor when it is inserted into the PVC piping.

    • 4

Affix the hook side of the tape vertically onto the 2-inch PVC piping. Stick the piping to the loop tape.

    • 5

Peel the 1 1/2-inch long loop-and-hook tape apart. Stick the loop part vertically onto the area where you want your curling iron plug holder to be positioned. Stick the hook part vertically onto the 1 1/2-inch pipe. Stick the small pipe onto the loop tape.

    • 6

Insert the curling iron tong into the large hanger and the curling iron plug into the small hanger.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can use the method to create a hanger for your hair straighteners.

  • Use hook-and-loop tape that is thinner than your piping to create a neat finish.

  • Only ever store your curling irons after they have fully cooled down.
