How to Stream Stock Quotes on a Mac Desktop

Widgets are microapplications that can be accessed from the computer's Dashboard.

A stock quote is a list of prices for a stock at a particular point in the trading day. Included with the OS X operating system is a Dashboard widget that allows you to stream stock quotes directly to your Mac desktop computer. You must activate this widget to use it, and you must enter the name or symbol of the stock into the widget itself to view stock quotes.

Instructions

1. Click the "Dashboard" application icon in the computer's Dock to launch the Dashboard.

2. Click the "+" icon in the bottom-left corner of the Dashboard.

3. Click the "Stocks" widget icon to add the widget to your Dashboard.

4. Click the "Info" icon in the bottom-right corner of the Stocks widget.

5. Type the name or stock symbol of the stock you want to stream in the space provided and click the "+" button.

6. Select the stock from the list of search results to add it to the Stocks widget. Now, the stock's quote will be streamed to the Stock widget.
