How to Hide the Facebook Widget Link
Once you've created a Facebook widget, it becomes easier for people to "like" your Page on Facebook, simply by clicking on the widget, also called a "Like Box" or "Like Button," from a website or blog. If at some point you don't want this to happen anymore and you want to hide the Facebook widget from your blog or site, it's just a bit easier to accomplish than creating the widget in the first place. To make changes such as this on your website or blog, you will need to have administrator access.
Instructions
-
-
1
Open a Word or other text program, and start a new file by clicking "File," then "New."
-
2
Open your blog or website content management tool, and log in with your administrator username and password.
-
-
3
Navigate to the page that contains the widget, and look for the Facebook widget code. Typically, the code looks something like this:
<iframe src="http://www.facebook.com/plugins/likebox.php?href=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Fplatform&width=292&colorscheme=light&show_faces=true&border_color&stream=true&header=true&height=427" scrolling="no" frameborder="0" style="border:none; overflow:hidden; width:292px; height:427px;" allowTransparency="true"></iframe>
-
4
Highlight the entire code with your cursor, making sure to get all the "<" icons at the beginning and end of the code.
-
5
Click "Edit" then "Cut" to remove the widget code from your page.
-
6
Click "Save Changes" to save the changes you made to the page.
-
7
Navigate to your Word or other text document and click "Edit," then "Paste" to paste the code into a document where you can retrieve it later, should you want to restore your page to the way it was before you started making changes. If you don't complete this step, you can always go back to the Facebook "Like Box" or "Like Button" page and recreate the box or button in the same style as you had before.
