How to Become a Scrapbook Instructor

How to Become a Scrapbook Instructor thumbnail
Make a portfolio and market yourself to become a scrapbook instructor.

Anyone can turn a hobby into a job with a little work. If you love scrapbooking and want to turn it into a career, consider teaching others how to scrapbook. You can start an independent business and contract your services out to stores, community centers or private parties. Working with established businesses gets your name out in the community. To demonstrate your skill level, prepare completed books or pages to show as samples of your work and choose only your best work to highlight.

Instructions

    • 1

Build a portfolio in a scrapbook that contains your most unique scrapbooking ideas. This book will be used to show people the work you have done, and that you can reproduce these pages when teaching others. Update as often as your skills improve.

    • 2

Visit your local craft store with your portfolio. Ask to hold classes at a table in the back of the store. Offer to use only in-house supplies to increase store sales. Charge a small amount for supplies and your instruction. You keep the profits aside from supplies.

    • 3

Contact your local parks and recreation department. Each season that park departments offer different classes in the community, introduce yourself and explain you want to teach scrapbooking classes. Lay out exactly how you would teach the class and what you would need to complete the course. The more information you present, the more it shows you are qualified to teach a class.

Create a business going from house to house teaching scrapbooking. Much like a jewelry or candle party, hosts can get their friends together with photos. You can bring supplies they buy directly from you and you can show them how to recreate your sample pages.
