How to Make Knotted Yarn Scarves
When making garment scarves, many projects require a sewing machine and/or knitting skills. But if you don't have the equipment or experience to make a traditional scarf, you can create scarves out of knotted yarn. Use bulky weight yarn to complete this project. Not only is it warmer than single thin strands of yarn used in most knitting projects, it is also easier to tie into a pattern.

1
Create four bunches of yarn that contain three strands of bulky yarn each. Tie two of the bunches together in a knot, leaving about six inches of loose yarn at the top of the knot. Repeat this with the other two bunches of yarn.

2
Insert a pin through the center of each knot and pin the bunches of yarn to a Styrofoam board.

3
Tie the two inner bunches of yarn in a knot, leaving about 1 inch of space above two knots. Tie the two bunches on the left side together and then tie the two bunches on the right side together.
-
4
Alternate knotting the center bunches together, then the left and right bunches of yarn. Make sure you keep the spacing between knots consistent.
-
5
Finish the scarf by cutting the ends of the yarn six inches after the last two knots.
