      Examine the blueprint legend and carefully identify the meaning for each symbol. If there is no legend, contact the creator of the blueprint for a more detailed explanation of the document.

      Learn the meaning and dimensions of the other lines, abbreviations, measuring tools and spacing within the blueprint. Use the legend as a guide to help you understand these different features.

      Work with experts in the relevant field that you are examining. Mechanical blueprints cover a number of different areas in a facility, including its plumbing, heating, air conditioning, ventilation, lighting and drainage
