DIY Shed Shelving
Sheds are wonderful places to store your gardening gear, chemicals and lawn care supplies, but without organization your shed can quickly become a mess. Shelves can help -- not only in letting you organize more easily but also in giving you more effective storage space to work with. A set of simple shelves for your shed isn't hard to build and will serve for many years of use. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- Two 6-foot 1-by-12-inch boards
- Tape measure
- Pencil
- Three 4-foot 1-by-12-inch boards
- 2-inch wood screws
- Screwdriver or power screwdriver
- 4-by-8-foot sheet of 1/2-inch plywood
- Circular saw

Place two 6-foot 1-by-12-inch boards parallel to each other. Measure each board from the end, making pencil marks on each at 6 inches and 3 feet.

Have a helper hold the boards parallel to each other on the narrow edges. Slide a 4-foot 1-by-12-inch board between the two boards, even with the 6-inch mark. Screw the boards together from the outside edges of the 6-foot boards with three screws for each shelf. Place the next board at the 3-foot mark and the third board even with the ends of the 6-foot boards.

Cut a 6-foot-by-4-foot, 2-inch piece of plywood. Lay this on the back of the shelves, covering them. Screw the board onto the shelves at the perimeter, with screws spaced every six inches.

Set the shelves upright, and paint if you wish. Place in the shed where you desire.
