DIY Girly Bookshelf
A bookshelf is an important part of a young reader’s bedroom. If you have a child who loves pink, butterflies, and all things delicate and sweet, you can build a simple bookshelf that has plenty of girly touches. Match a girly bookshelf to a girly bedroom by using similar colors and decorations. Things You'll Need
- Soap
- Wooden crates
- Dropcloth
- 100 grit sandpaper
- Brackets
- Screws
- Electric drill
- White spray paint
- Wooden shapes
- Acrylic paint
- Paintbrush
- Wood glue

Clean two wooden crates with soap and water. Let them dry thoroughly.

Put down a dropcloth to protect your working surface.

Sand any rough edges on the wooden crates with 100 grit sandpaper.

Place one crate on the ground on its long side, the opening to one side, and place the other crate on top of it, the opening facing the same direction.

Attach the two crates by fixing two brackets to each solid side of the crate with screws and an electric drill. Place the brackets close to the corners, where the wood is the thickest and the sturdiest.

Hammer two nails into the edges of the crates at the opening to secure that side together. This holds the top of the bottom crate to the bottom of the top crate.

Spray paint the wood white, pink or lavender.

Allow the paint to dry completely.

Paint small wooden shapes in bright colors with acrylic paint and a paint brush. For a girly bookshelf, use shapes like butterflies, flowers and hearts, and paint them in bright, cheerful colors.

Attach the painted wooden shapes to the bookshelf with wood glue.

Glue a feather boa, sequins, rhinestones, or anything that sparkles to the shelf.
