Add beads to glam up the fringe of your knitted scarf.

Add a touch of glamor to a dull piece or make an extra special knitted item for a loved one. As scarves have to withstand a certain amount of wear and tear, choose beads with wider holes so that you can use the yarn from your fringe to secure the beads. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Thread the wood fringe through the beading needle. Use a needle threader if you are having trouble. Yarn has a frayed end that may be difficult to thread through a needle.

    • 2

Lay out the beads on your work surface. Pick up the beads with the sharp tip of the needle and thread them onto the yarn. Thread on as many beads as you want.

    • 3

Take the free end of the yarn fringe piece and make a loop. Bring the end of the yarn through the loop twice and pull tight; this is a blood knot. Continue to thread the fringe pieces onto the needle, add beads and tie the yarn off until your whole fringe is beaded.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you have beads with large center holes, divide your fringe into many equal parts. Each part should only have four yarn fringe pieces in it. Thread a bead onto the first group, divide that group in two. Do the same with the second group. Tie the two half groups closest to each other in a knot. Repeat with all the other pieces to form a fancy beaded fringe.
