How to Seal a Spray Nozzle Feed on a Delta Sink Faucet

Delta spray nozzles are attached to a flexible hose, which allows the user to wash off vegetables and dishes with ease. Delta's spray nozzle comes factory-equipped with an O-ring, which seals the spray nozzle, keeping water from dripping around the base of the nozzle where the hose is connected. Over time, this O-ring seal can break down and will need to be replaced to keep the nozzle and hose connection water-tight. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Shut off the water supply to your kitchen sink if your sink has a dedicated shutoff valve. Or shut off the water supply at the main water supply line near the street.

    • 2

Pull the Delta spray nozzle and hose assembly out of its recess then depress the trigger to empty any residual water trapped inside the hose.

    • 3

Unfasten the Delta spray nozzle from the hose counterclockwise by hand or use pliers if it will not turn by hand. You will see threads at the end of the hose, along with a plastic stem and black rubber washer or O-ring.

    • 4

Pull the O-ring off the end of the stem on the hose and discard it.

    • 5

Pour vinegar into a bowl and submerge the Delta spray nozzle into the vinegar for 20 to 30 minutes to remove any mineral deposits. Then clean out the threading inside the nozzle with a wire brush.

    • 6

Fit a new O-ring over the stem on top of the threaded stem. Then reconnect the Delta spray nozzle by hand. Do not use pliers or you may crack the nozzle.

    • 7

Turn the water supply back on then test your Delta spray nozzle for leaks.
