How to Not Become Bored Working Out at Home
Exercising can be a fun and enriching part of your daily schedule, but you must take steps to keep yourself from getting bored with the same exercise program every day. A few simple steps can give you diversity in your at-home work out, while giving you other things to do and other people to talk to while you work out. Avoiding boredom in an at-home exercise program is essential for keeping you motivated and ensuring your willingness to continue on your regular workout plan.

1
Invite someone to work out with you, such as a spouse, child or good friend. Turn your workout session into a social event, talking about your day, sharing stories from your past or talking about popular interests like new music or a new film. Use the social time to stay close to your workout partner, while making your workout time pass by quickly.

2
Stage your workout room around a distraction, such as a television or stereo. Watch television while you work out, catching up on some of your favorite shows or watching the news to find out about things happening in the world. Center your work out around a morning show, starting your work out when the show begins and finishing when the show ends. Select an hour-long show for long workouts, or a half-hour program for shorter workouts. When your workout partner is there, select a show you both enjoy and use the show as a talking point for your conversation with your partner.

Change your workout program daily. Select a different exercise set for each day, such as using the exercise bike every Monday and Friday, jumping jacks every Tuesday and Thursday, and going for a long walk every Wednesday. Discuss different exercise options with your workout partner and establish a specific exercise schedule. If an exercise begins to bore you, exchange it for another exercise and continue your schedule.

Set up a few large mirrors in your workout area. Watch yourself work out, looking at your muscle movement and noting the improvements to your health and physique. Use these mirrors as inspiration, reminding you about the reasons you began working out, but also as an inspiration to continue working out regularly. Stay positive about what you see in the mirror. For instance, you may watch your leg muscles as you jog on the treadmill, telling yourself how much better your legs look since you began working out regularly. Use your own moving physical form as a distraction and inspiration to keep you moving and keep you from feeling bored.
