How to Make a Framed Wine Bottle Cork Board
Don’t discard wine bottle corks; instead, save them for crafty projects for your home decor. For example, you can make cork boards, trivets, frames and wall art with used or new wine bottle corks. Craft stores and online retailers sell new wine corks by the bagful, so the materials are available even if you don’t drink wine. Decorate the corks with acrylic paint, spray paint, ribbons, buttons, beads and beaded pins to personalize your design. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Remove the glass from a wall picture frame equal to the desired size of the wine bottle cork board. Save the glass for future craft projects. Leave the back attached to the frame.
-
2
Dry fit a row of corks across the top edge of the inside of the wall frame. Lay the corks on their sides. Turn each successive cork in the opposite direction, one with the slightly fatter end up and the next with the slightly fatter end down, so that the corks rest flush along both sides. Cut the first and last cork with a serrated knife, if necessary, to make the row of corks fit within the frame.

3
Dry fit successive rows of corks in the same manner as the first row. Begin each row with the cork turned in the opposite direction of the preceding row. Fill the inside of the frame with cork. If necessary, slice the corks on the top and bottom rows lengthwise to fit evenly within the frame. Remove the corks in order.
-
4
Spread a thin layer of one-part epoxy adhesive along the inside of the wall frame back along the top where the first row of corks fit. The width of the adhesive row should not exceed the width of the first row of wine bottle corks.
-
5
Press the corks into the adhesive side-by-side, one at a time, beginning at the inside left corner of the frame. Press each cork into the adhesive to fill the row.
-
6
Follow the process to add each successive row of wine corks to the inside of the frame. Allow the adhesive to dry for 24 hours before moving the framed cork board.

A hot glue gun also works to attach the corks to the frame backboard, but the effect is not permanent.
