Make yourself a more comfortable station to play G25 Racing.

Playing computer games can take up hours of your time and you want to have a comfortable seat for the duration. Make a racing car seat to enhance the realism and experience of your PS3 racing games. Take an old bucket racing seat and transform it into a gaming station. You can get a bucket racing seat from a junk yard and, with a few supplies from the hardware store, you'll be racing like a pro in no time. Consider making a double-seated gaming station if you like to partner up.

Instructions

    • 1

Measure the pieces with your tape measure and mark them with the pencil before cutting. Cut a piece of press board into four pieces. Two pieces should be 15.7-by-23.6 inches. These will be the sides of your station. The base should be 27.5-by-55.11 inches and the top should be 27.5-by-11.8 inches.

    • 2

Lay the base on your work surface with one of the narrow sides facing you. Draw a line 5 inches from the edge. Measure the distance between the holes on the seat frame at the back. Measure and mark these on your press board.

    • 3

Mount the two medium "L" shaped brackets to the back of the base. The curve in the "L" should be against the line you just measured, with the bottom of the "L" facing toward the front of the base. Use the drill with an appropriately sized drill bit to mount the brackets.

    • 4

Measure the distance between the back of the car seat frame and the front. Measure the distance between the mounting holes on the front of the frame. Mark the spots on the base and mount the two large brackets there. The bottom of the "L" brackets should be facing you and the curve should be on the line. Use the bolts that come with the seat to attach it to the "L" shaped brackets.

    • 5

Place the top of your gaming station on the work surface. Mount the 2 remaining medium sized "L" shaped brackets in the middle of the narrow sides. The curve of the bracket should be against the edge with the 'feet' of the L facing toward each other. Use the drill with an appropriately sized drill bit to secure the brackets to the bottom of the table.

    • 6

Hold one side panel up at a 90 degree angle to the table top. The short side of the panel should be on the bottom. Use the drill to attach the panel to the side of the "L" shaped bracket. Repeat for the other side.

    • 7

Turn the table right side up. Secure the top to the side panels by placing two small "L" shaped brackets on the two front and two back corners where the top is attached to the side panels. One side of the "L" shaped bracket will be secured to the table top while the other side will be attached to the the side panels.

    • 8

Place the base with chair in front of your PS 3. Place the table in front of the chair. The controls and steering wheel go on top of the table, and the PS3 goes in front of the table. Sit in your chair and enjoy your new gaming station.

Tips & Warnings

  • Get the hardware store to cut the press board to size if you don't have a circular saw.

  • Check the "L" shaped brackets for the screw sizes to see what size drill bits you will need. If you are still not sure, ask the hardware professional at the store where you bought the brackets to recommend a drill bit size.

  • If your bucket seat does not come with bolts, get bolts that will fit into the "L"-shaped bracket securely. Ask the hardware store professional for bolts that will fit the bracket if you are not sure.
