Cover the moldings in the room with pieces of masking tape. Make sure that the tape completely covers the moldings and leaves the wall exposed. Remove the furniture from the room or move to the center of the room and cover the floors with plastic tarps.

2
Paint the walls in a dark paint color, like royal blue or hunter green. Darker wall colors were popular during the colonial period. After the paint dries, apply a second coat. Apply additional coats until the wall color matches the desired shade.

Attach the plate hangers on the wall around the quilt. Hang all the plate hangers on one side of the quilt or arrange the plates equally around the quilt. Slide the decorative plates into the plate hangers. Make any arrangements or leave the plates as they are.

Tips & Warnings
Pick plates and quilts that share similar colors, such as blue and white decorative plates with a quilt made from different shades of blue.
Swap the decorative plates for framed art prints. Opt for handmade, original art or mass produced prints, but make sure that the prints pick up on the same color as the quilt.
For another decorating idea, use one large piece of art with a few smaller pieces on the sides.
