Instructions

    • 1

Measure the window or wall area where you wish to hang the curtains, using a measuring tape to record both the width and length. Write down the measurements and add an inch to each side to allow room for a seam.

    • 2

Cut the sheer fabric of your choice to match your measurements, using a pair of scissors. Sheer fabrics include gossamer, tulle and any fabrics that have a low thread density. If you want, cut the single piece of fabric in two vertically to create separate pieces.

    • 3

Fold the edges of the curtain fabric over 1/2 inch on each side and secure using sewing pins.

    • 4

Sew the perimeter of the curtains using a needle and thread or loaded sewing machine.

    • 5

Cut a 4-inch-thick length of velvet fabric in the color of your choice, using the same length as the bottom of the curtains. If you created two curtain panels, cut the velvet strip in two as well.

    • 6

Secure the velvet strip or strips to the bottom edge of the curtain panel or panels, again using sewing pins.

    • 7

Sew the velvet strip to the bottom of the curtain using a needle and thread or loaded sewing machine.

    • 8

Attach clip-on curtain rings to the top edge of the curtain, placing a ring every three inches. The curtains are now ready for use.
