Use Tracking 202 to track both opt-ins and conversions.

Tracking 202 is a click-to-conversion tracking software released by Prosper 202. The system was originally built primarily with pay-per-click advertising in mind. To get Tracking 202 to work with email marketing, you need to make a few tweaks to the system. Once it's properly tuned, you can use Tracking 202 to track your clicks, opt-ins, confirmed opt-ins and conversions back to the keywords from which they originally came. To do this, you need to do a bit of coding.

Instructions

    • 1

Set up your campaign as you normally would. Find your offer, create your landing page, add your linear programming code and generate your tracking links.

    • 2

In Step 8 of the setup process, choose "advanced pixel fire." A pixel code will be generated with "&cid=" at the end. This additional tag allows you to track multiple pixel fires for the same traffic. In other words, you can fire the pixel on an opt-in and a conversion to track both.

    • 3

Add your advanced tracking pixel to the "Thank You" page of your opt-in form. Give your pixel a unique "cid" value. Any time someone lands on your landing page, he'll now have the Tracking 202 cookie and a unique SubID. When he opts in, the pixel will fire and Tracking 202 will know he opted in.

    • 4

Add your tracking pixel to your affiliate network. Most major affiliate networks allow you to place your tracking pixel automatically without having to contact the advertiser directly. Again, assign a unique "cid" value to track the conversion separately from the opt-in.

    • 5

Test your whole system. Click through your own link, opt in to your own email and make a test purchase to see if the pixel fires properly and the whole thing is tracking properly in Tracking 202.

Tips & Warnings

  • To track confirmed opt-ins instead of just single opt-ins, place your tracking pixel on the opt-in confirmation page instead of your opt-in thank-you page. To track both, create another unique "cid" value.
