How to Dye a Receding Hairline Blond
Receding hairlines occur during the first stages of baldness and are typically seen in men over the age of 20. Many men look at receding hairlines with disdain and shave the rest off, but if you prefer not to take that approach, you can dye your hair instead. Dyeing your hair blond can take the focus off of the receding hairline because, for many skin tones, there will be less contrast between the color of your hair and the color of your skin. The process for dyeing your hair is the same as with a full head of hair. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Apply a thin layer of petroleum jelly on your hairline, from one earlobe to the other. Many people accidentally get hair color on their scalp, but the jelly will prevent it from staining your skin for days; a stained scalp will only draw more attention to the receding hairline.

2
Remove the hair dye from its packaging. Follow the instructions in the box to ready your mixture.

3
Apply the dye to your hair. For a more natural look, apply it half an inch away from your actual scalp. Because naturally blond hair features darker roots, not dyeing that half-inch will make it look more real.
-
4
Run a comb through your hair to even the dye through the strands.
-
5
Cover your hair -- not your head -- with a plastic bag to keep the dye moist. Most bleach dyes will harden if left exposed to the air, and if the dye hardens, it will not have an effect on your hair. Wait the allotted time specified on the instructions.
-
6
Wash the dye out of your hair. Apply any special conditioner if provided. Make sure the water runs clear from your head before getting out of the shower. Wait for your hair to dry to see the full effect; bleached hair looks darker when wet.

Tips & Warnings
Determine how many shades of color you intend to lighten. For example, if your hair is red, you can likely use regular blond hair dye without worry. However, brown- and black-haired men will need to use bleach. Make sure the bleach you pick is exclusively used for hair and can be safely applied to the scalp.
Treat your hair to a full-on conditioning at least a week prior to dyeing your hair. This lets your hair be as healthy and full as possible.
Never cover your face with the plastic bag. This traps you with hazardous bleach fumes, and a plastic bag over the face is dangerous even without it.
