How to Add a Header Banner in Blogger

A header banner adds a touch of professionalism to a blog. It lets visitors know they have found a blog that the owner puts a great deal of effort into, and it helps you generate brand recognition that your readers will begin to remember. The default design for Blogger displays the title of the blog at the top of the page. You can design a new banner image for your blog's header area and upload it using the Blogger design customization page.

Instructions

    • 1

Navigate to Blogger.com, logging in with your Google account credentials if prompted.

    • 2

Click the "Design" link under the name of your blog. This brings you to the "Add and Arrange Page Elements" page for the blog.

    • 3

Click the "Edit" link in the lower-right corner of the "Header" section near the top of the page. This displays a new window with the title "Configure Header." Fields at the top of the window display your blog's title and description.

    • 4

Click the "Shrink to Fit" check box if the image that you want to upload is wider than 760 pixels. This automatically changes the size of the image to prevent it from being wider than the blog's design.

    • 5

Click to select the "From your computer" radio button under the "Image" section.

    • 6

Click the "Choose File" button. Find the image on your computer that you want to use as a header banner for your blog, and double-click it. This uploads the image from your computer to Blogger. The window displays a small version of the image after the upload is complete.

    • 7

Click a radio button under "Placement" to indicate where Blogger should place the banner image in relation to your blog's title and description. You can display the image behind the text or above it. You can also choose not to display the text at all.

    • 8

Click the "Save" button at the bottom of the window. This returns you to the "Add and Arrange Page Elements" screen.

    • 9

Click the "Save" button at the top of the screen.
