How to Decoupage Fabric on a Formica Table
Decoupage is a simple way to effectively change the way any piece of furniture looks. Decoupage involves a special medium that adheres paper, photos or even fabric to a surface. A lackluster Formica table can be made new again with the addition of some decoupaged fabric. Use squares of different fabric for a patchwork look, or one kind for a interesting, personalized table. Things You'll Need
- Paper towels
- Cleaner
- Fabric
- Scissors
- Decoupage medium
- Sponge paint brush
- Wide paint brush
- Clear varnish

Clean any dust or debris from the table using cleaner and paper towels. This will ensure you are starting with a fresh, clean surface for the decoupage.

Lay the fabric on to the table to get an idea of how big you need it to be. Cut the fabric to fit the table with the scissors.

Brush decoupage medium on to the back of the fabric evenly with a sponge brush. Place the fabric carefully on to the surface of the table.

Press the fabric down to adhere it. Press gently if you see any air bubbles to smooth them out.

Brush more decoupage medium over the entire table once you have completed adhering the fabric. Allow the table to completely dry before continuing to the next step.

Brush a clear varnish sealer on to the table with a wide paint brush. This will ensure that your fabric table stays protected and doesn't get damaged. Allow the table to dry overnight.
