Origami Haunted House Instructions
The Haunted House Association estimates that there are over 1,200 haunted attractions charging admission in the United States. That being said, the haunted house is one of the most iconic images associated with Halloween, the second largest commercial holiday in the U.S. When the fall season approaches, it's time to decorate, and making origami haunted houses is an economical group activity that can be shared with family and friends. Embellished houses can be placed on coffee tables, shelves or counter tops to keep the home festive.

1
Print and cut out the haunted house image in Resources if you want a pre-designed house. If you want to design your own house you can use a blank standard square of origami paper.
-
2
Position the paper so that the colored side is down. If you are using the printout, make sure the bottom of the house is at the bottom and the top is at the top.
-
-
3
Fold the square in half horizontally and unfold. Fold the bottom half upward and the top half downward to the center, meeting at the center crease.
-
4
Flip your paper over, fold it in half vertically and then unfold. Fold the left and right sides inward to the center, meeting at the crease.
-
5
Fold the top inner left corner downward diagonally to the left. This will create half of the roof. Fold the top inner right corner downward diagonally to the right to form the other half of the roof. Flip over your origami to see a house shape.
-
6
Draw the design for your haunted house, if you chose to design your own house, using a pencil so you can erase if you mess up. You may want to outline the roof and draw a door and a window. Ghosts could be coming out of the door and window.
-
7
Lay down a sheet of newspaper to guard the counter or table top. Outline your finished drawing with colored markers and fill in your outlines with paint.
