DIY Grinder Rests
A grinder is a machine used to grind blades and other sharp objects. Grinders have different discs that are installed on them. These discs come in various sizes and can be used to file down different objects. When you are using a grinder, it is best to have a stand for it to rest on. This makes it easier to use and can get better results on the grinder you are working on. With just a few basic materials, you can build your own grinder stand at home. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Run a tape measure along the length and width of the grinder. Record both measurements. This will determine how big of a grinder stand you will need to make. Lay out a sheet of 3/4-inch plywood on a flat surface.
-
2
Measure and mark the plywood for the top and bottom of the stand. Add a few inches to the recorded measurement so the grinder has a little extra room to sit on the stand. Line up the blade of a circular saw with the mark on the plywood and cut out two pieces that same size. This will be the top and bottom of the grinder rest.

3
Determine how tall you want the stand to be and mark the height on the plywood. Mark the width so it is the same as the width of the top and bottom of the stand. Cut those four pieces to size with the circular saw just as the top and bottom pieces were cut.
-
4
Place all the pieces together so the four side pieces are touching the top and bottom pieces. Verify they fit together properly. Screw each of the side pieces to the bottom piece with a power drill. Drill in a drywall screw every 8 inches along each side piece to secure it to the bottom piece.
-
5
Stand up the entire assembly so the bottom piece is on the ground. Set the top piece on top and drill it into the side pieces through the top. Space out the screws every 8 inches. Set the grinder on top of the rest and verify it fits correctly.
