How to Make a WWE Costume

How to Make a WWE Costume thumbnail
Borrow boots and gloves from a biker friend.

Make your own WWE costume for Halloween or a fancy dress party and save the price of an expensive, ready-made outfit. It isn't necessary to make an exact copy of the WWE superstar’s costume. Aim to create a similar overall look. Use poses, moves and character traits of the star to complete the image. The Undertaker is a WWE bad-boy, otherwise known as a heel. He wears a lot of black, making his outfit fairly simple to imitate. Strike a mean-looking pose and occasionally roll your eyes back in your head to impersonate his characteristically crazy fighting-face. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Use a pair of tight black leggings and a black vest for the base of the outfit. Family and friends are good sources for these common clothes items if you don’t own them yourself. Alternatively, buy them cheaply at cut-price clothing stores.

    • 2

Wear a pair of long, black boots. Almost any long, black boot will do. Black Doctor Martens, or other similar brand, are ideal, as are biker boots. However, even black cowboy boots will do.

    • 3

Cut the hair on a long, brown, wavy-haired wig to just longer than shoulder length. Pin your own hair tightly on your head with bobby pins and put the wig on top. Pull it down around the hairline so that it fully covers your hair and pin the wig in place with more bobby pins.

    • 4

Outline the upper and lower eyelids with black eyeliner.

    • 5

Pull on a pair of fingerless, black leather biker gloves. Alternatively, cut the fingers off an ordinary pair of tight-fitting, black gloves and put these on.

    • 6

Complete the costume with a long, black leather trench coat (or leather duster coat) if you can get hold of one, and a vintage Western undertaker-type hat. These last two accessories are a bonus, but not essential. The Undertaker wears these into the ring at the start of a fight, but not while wrestling.

Tips & Warnings

  • A vintage Western undertaker hat has a rounded top and a wide brim. Jimi Hendrix wore a similar hat with a purple ribbon around it. To save money on an original, buy an inexpensive Hendrix-tribute hat and take the ribbon off for a hat to wear with the Undertaker costume.
