How to Make a Dibble Board
A dibble board is a piece of wood with knobs or tabs attached in evenly spaced rows on one side of it. The dibble board allows you to poke dozens of the same-sized holes into the ground at the same time, speeding the seed-planting process. Make your own dibble board with some inexpensive materials and a few tools. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- Plywood board
- Saw
- Tape measure
- Pencil
- Drill
- 1/2-inch drill bit
- Screws
- 1/2-inch diameter dowels
- Wood glue
- 2 straps or handles

Cut the plywood in half to get two equal size pieces.

Set aside one half and draw a grid on one side of the other half with each box in the grid 2 square inches.

Drill a 1/2-inch hole into each grid intersection.

Place the second plywood piece on top of the drilled plywood, line them up evenly and screw them together.

Cut the wooden dowels into 2 1/2-inch long pieces.

Cover one end of each dowel piece with wood glue and press them into the holes in the plywood.

Screw two straps or handles onto the side of the dibble board opposite from the dowels and space apart enough for you to comfortably pick up and maneuver the device.

Let your dibble board dry completely before using.

Tips & Warnings
To use your dibble board, press it dowel side down into soft soil and remove it. You will be left with evenly spaced holes to fill with seeds.
