How to Make a Surface Paintable in Maya
Maya is visual creation software made by Autodesk with which you create 3D images. Maya has a painting tool with which you draw and color customized images to simulate realistic clothing, liquids, smoke and more. Any surface is paintable in Maya. All you have to do is create a new canvas.

Double-click the Maya icon to open the application.

Click “File.”

Click “New Scene” to open a new blank canvas on which you paint.

Click “Create.”

Click “NURBS Primitives.”

Click “Plane.” Adjust the size of the canvas to your liking.

Click “Create.” The surface is paintable.

Click “Layouts.”

Click “Single Pane” to select the entire scene as a paintable surface. Click the “Maximize” button on the window border to view the entire work surface.
