How to Get Your Hair to Grow Back After Extensions
Extensions are an effective way to change the length and color of your hair. With extensions, you add natural or synthetic hair to your scalp; if done correctly, they should look natural. While the extensions are in your hair, your natural hair continues to grow at the normal rate of about six inches a year; this doesn't change after you remove them. There are a few techniques, however, that can encourage hair growth once your extensions are removed. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Massage the scalp by spreading your hands over the crown of your head. Gently move your fingertips back and forth to stimulate the scalp and increase blood circulation. Increased blood circulation means that more nutrients are carried by your blood to your hair follicles, increasing hair growth. Perform a scalp massage twice a day for 1 to 3 minutes each time.

Clean your hair using a shampoo and conditioner formulated for your hair type. Cleaning the hair removes dirt and oil that clog hair follicles and inhibit new hair growth. A conditioner softens hair and makes it more manageable. Rinse out the shampoo and conditioner with cool water; hot water removes natural oils and can make your hair dry. Cool water closes the hair cuticle so that hair will be less apt to tangle -- and less tangling means less breakage. Reducing breakage helps you to keep the new hair that you grow.

Dry hair gently with a towel, or let hair air-dry. Treating the hair gently reduces breakage and damage. Although blow-dryers are convenient, heat drys out the hair, stripping it of much-needed natural oils. Split ends are also more common with dry, damaged hair, which easily breaks off. Styling tools such as hot rollers, curling wands and flat irons should also be avoided.

Moisturize hair to keep it soft, shiny and less prone to breakage. Apply a dime-sized amount of moisturizer to hair each day, concentrating on the ends, which reduces the chances of split ends. Moisturizers also lubricate the hair, cutting down on dryness and breakage as it grows. There are many hair oils on the market. Look for products with olive oil, coconut oil or camellia oil. Essential oils that are good for the hair are rosemary, nettle and sage.
