Instructions

    • 1

Fill a jelly roll pan with hot water and stir in 1 tbsp. of oil soap using a spoon.

    • 2

Layer 16 oz. of colorful wool roving into the pan. Tap the top of the wool roving with your fingertips for 10 minutes. This will "felt" the top of the roving.

    • 3

Flip the wool roving over so that the reverse side is exposed. Tap the wool with your fingertips for another 10 minutes.

    • 4

Rinse the felted wool sheet under warm water until no soap remains. Squeeze out the excess water. Lay the felted sheet of wool onto a towel to dry for 2 hours.

    • 5

Cut the felt sheet into a rectangle to measure 12 inches wide and 24 inches long.

    • 6

Fold the rectangle in half lengthwise. Leave a 1/2-inch seam allowance and insert straight pins around the edges.

    • 7

Sew around the pinned form using a needle and thread, leaving a 3-inch gap. Remove the straight pins.

    • 8

Turn the pillow right side out through the 3-inch gap. Stuff the pillow with wool batting until it is as full as you wish.

    • 9

Turn the edges of the opening inward 1/2-inch and sew the gap closed. Trim off any excess thread with scissors.
