1
Pick a color for the yarn. Use three different colors to make the outfit more attractive. The yarn serves as the drawstrings that represent the grass. Make sure that the colors are in contrast with the color of the shirt and pants.
-
2
Cut the yarn into several pieces of 12 inches long each. The amount of yarn you will use will depend on the size of the costume and the thickness of the “grass” ensembles.

-
3
Sew the yarn strands around the sleeves of the shirt. Sew some more into the long pants along the knee part, creating a “V” or “W” design.
-
4
Decorate the apron with beadworks, sequins, ribbons or a combination of these materials. You may also cut the front portion of the apron in “V” shape, and then sew yarn fringes on the edges just as you did with the shirt and pants.
-
5
Measure your head circumference with your tape measure to start making the “roach” or headdress that will complete the outfit.
-
6
Cut out the heavy construction paper according to the measurements of the head. Staple the ends to put them together and make a headband.
-
7
Glue the beads and artificial or real feathers onto the headband using the glue gun for a better hold.
