How to Make a Wrap Friendship Bracelet
Wrap-style friendship bracelets are one of the simplest forms of bracelets you can make. They do not require any complex methods of knotting or braiding, but can include a variety of color patterns. Depending on how you make them, you can add some extra embellishments that will require a bit more skill to accomplish.
Things You'll Need
- 6 to 8 pieces craft floss/string (you can use as many or as few colors as you want)
- Tape or binder clip
- Scissors
- Measuring tape or ruler

1
Group all the string together and tie a knot of whatever style you prefer at one end. Leave enough string at the end so that it can be used to tie the bracelet together with the other end when it is done. This may work best if you create a loop when making the knot. Tape down or clip the string by the end so that it will stay in one place while you are wrapping it.

2
Pick one or two strings to begin wrapping the bracelet. Bring them around the rest of the strings in a circular or winding move that "wraps" them around and around, creating a "band" of color. The bands of color will be thicker if you use multiple strings. If you do use more than one at a time for wrapping, choose two of the same color for solid bands. Wrap the chosen string tightly around the rest of the group of strings. Do this for your chosen amount of space, such as 1/2 inch to 1 inch.

Choose a new string or strings of a different color to begin wrapping the next section. Place the original strings back with the rest of the group. Wrap the new color for the same amount of space as the previous color used. If you wrapped the first color in a 1/2-inch or 1-inch band, do the same with the second color. When you have reached this point, start a new color. Do this for the rest of the bracelet.

4
Tie off the end of the bracelet when it has reached an appropriate length. Leave enough string after the knot so that it can be tied with the string at the other end. If you created a loop at the other end, you can tie the end through it. Cut off any leftover string after it has been tied.

5
To create an extra pattern, you can criss-cross one or two strings of a different color across each band of color in the bracelet. Before wrapping the first strings, set aside string to criss-cross and make sure it is not wrapped up with the rest of the string. Once the first band of color has been wrapped and before you start on the next one, take the criss-crossing strings and tightly wind them around the band of color. You can wind them around in one direction or take two strings and wind them in opposite directions so that they "cross" over each other. Use them for the entire bracelet or change them when you make a new band of color.

Tips & Warnings
You can use 60-inch strands of craft string folded in half or 30-inch strands kept singly. The number of strands you use for your bracelet will affect how thick the finished product is. Using longer string can be helpful at first as you get used to making these bracelets, as it will give you more length to work with.
Doing complicated color patterns may be difficult at first. Try to make several basic bracelets first to get the hang of the process.
