How to Make Your Own Letterman Jackets for Girls
Letterman jackets are given to students who are athletes or part of academic clubs and organizations. Letterman jackets have patches that are sewn on to show a student's participation in various organizations, clubs and teams. You can create your own custom patches to make a Letterman jacket and sew them on to show that you are involved in student activities.

1
Measure the area on the sleeves and front of your school jacket where you want to place the patches to make sure that you have enough space.
-
2
Trace the outline of the patches you want to create using pencil and tracing paper. Use stencils to create letters. You will need to cut out two shapes for each letter you make, using the same outline; one for the top layer of the patch and one for the bottom layer.

3
Create your patch by tracing the outline of the patch onto a piece of felt and cutting it out. Create the second layer by cutting out the second outline from another piece of felt or a textured fabric like chenille. Glue the top layer of the patch to the bottom layer and let the glue set.
-
4
Place the patch where you want it to be on the jacket's sleeve. Thread a sewing needle with strong thread and sew the patch to the sleeve using a sturdy stitch such as a backstitch.
