How to Use Air Compressors to Clean Popcorn Ceilings
An air compressor is used to blow popcorn ceiling texture onto the ceiling originally, and is also useful in cleaning the ceiling years down the road. The air from the compressor blows the unwanted dirt and other contaminants off of the ceiling without damaging the popcorn particles. Before attempting to clean the ceiling, it is important to ensure your ceiling does not contain asbestos particles, which are toxic when inhaled. Have the ceiling tested for asbestos before cleaning the ceiling with air or any other cleaning method. If the ceiling contains asbestos, have the popcorn texture removed as soon as possible. 2
Blow the air onto the ceiling to remove any larger dust and dirt particles from the ceiling. Use low-pressure air to avoid blowing the popcorn particles off of the ceiling. Pay special attention to the corners of the room and areas around air vents, as these areas accumulate dust and cobwebs the fastest.
