Choose a frame that best shows off your masterpiece.

Mounting canvas paintings is a relatively simple job if you already have a frame. Buying your own frame will save you lots of money on expensive framing and give you the opportunity to select the frame molding and size that best suits your masterpiece. Choose a large frame and avoid plastic and metal frames which don't allow you to secure the canvas painting around the frame. Choose a frame that suits the painting and your decor.

Instructions

    • 1

Place the towel on your working surface. This will prevent your frame from getting scuffed during the framing process. Lay the frame on the towel, face down. Center the canvas into the wooden frame.

    • 2

Insert the glazing points into the inner edge of the frame so that they hold the canvas in place. Press them into the wood with the pliers. Press glazing points in every few inches all the way around the edge of the frame.

    • 3

Cut strips of double-sided tape and stick them 1 inch from the outer edge of the frame. Remove the backing. Cut a piece of frame backing paper that is one foot longer and wider than your frame.

    • 4

Press down on the frame backing to stick it to the tape. Trim the excess with a ruler and a craft knife.
