Exercise regularly and maintain a healthy diet and regular sleeping patterns. Having a healthy body will allow you to unwind much more easily and feel substantially happier and less-stressed.

Maintain regular communication with friends and family. Talk to them about work and other aspects of your life. Having people there to listen to your thoughts and problems is a great way to feel less-stressed as opposed to just keeping everything bottled up.

Speak to a counselor that has been provided for police officers at your police station. Counselors are there to help you deal with your stress and problems without any judgment. They are trained in the best ways to help you cope and deal with stress. This is a great alternative if you feel you are unable to speak to friends or family about your work problems.

Balance your work so that you are working comfortable hours with realistic goals. Working for too long at any one time will cause you to feel stressed and tired quickly. Setting yourself seemingly unobtainable goals will be just setting yourself up to feel disappointed and stressed when you do not meet them. Having realistic goals gives you something to work toward and helps reduce stress by giving you a positive boost when you reach them.
