Make medieval fort armor using basic household materials.

When assembling a medieval fort-posted soldier's costume for Halloween, a theatrical play or a costume party, it can be challenging to locate a set of fort-plated armor from a standard costume shop. One solution is to make fort armor yourself using a few basic materials found around your house or purchased from a craft supply store. This method allows you to create a realistic-looking medieval solider costume without spending a lot of money.

Things You'll Need

Instructions

    • 1

Cut out two rectangles from poster board measuring 24 inches wide and 36 inches long. Round the corners with the scissors.

    • 2

Cut out 108 circles from aluminum foil using scissors, measuring 4 inches in diameter each.

    • 3

Lay one of the rectangles vertically onto a table top, and place a row of four aluminum foil circles across the bottom edge of the rectangle. Secure the circles in place with a stapler.

    • 4

Lay a second row of aluminum foil circles across the rectangular form, arranging the second row of circles 2 inches above the first row. Staple the circles in place, as before. Repeat this process until the entire poster board rectangle is covered with 54 overlapping foil circles. This will be the front of the fort armor.

    • 5

Repeat this process to cover the second poster board rectangle with 54 aluminum foil circles. This will be the back of the fort armor.

    • 6

Cut four pieces of twine using scissors to measure 4 inches long each. Staple two pieces of twine along the top edge on both rectangles at the corners.

    • 7

Place the front and back pieces of armor together with the foil sides facing out, and tie the pieces of twine together at the corners. You can now slide the medieval fort armor over your head, with the twine resting on your shoulders.

Tips & Warnings
