Secure your valuables by attaching an inside pocket to your ski pants.

Whether it be for stowing away an ID card, credit cards or cash, an inside pocket is a pocket never picked. Although ski pants normally come with a number of regular and cargo-styled pockets, an inside pocket usually doesn't make the final cut. Luckily you can easily secure a zippered pocket to the inside of your ski pants with a needle and thread. In fact, making the pocket will take more time than attaching it. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

  1. Make the Pocket

    • 1

Pin the cloth in half. The top side will be the longer side (measuring 6 inches long when folded in half). Line up both pieces of the top side and pin them together 1 inch from the top.

    • 2

Sew the zipper onto the top portion of the pocket by sliding the edges of the pocket cloth underneath the bottom edges of the cloth attached to both sides of the zipper. Push the zipper all of the way into the fold and sew it on with a cross stitch, leaving the open end open.

    • 3

Fold one side of the cloth of the open end of the pocket underneath the other side and pin it in place once the width of the pocket is the same as the zipper (4 inches long). Open the zipper and turn the cloth pocket inside out. Sew the pocket together on the remaining open side and trim off the excess cloth. Close the remaining hole underneath the zipper at the top of the now closed pocket by stitching the top corner of the cloth to the bottom of the zipper.

    • 4

Pull the cloth back through the zipper so that the pocket is no longer inside out. Measure 1 inch up from the bottom of the cloth and pin it together. Close the bottom of the pocket with another cross stitch. Trim off excess cloth below the stitch.

    Sew it on

Decide where you would like to attach your inside pocket to your ski pants. Locate the bottom of the inside waist seam of your ski pants. Do not attach the pocket to the waist seam if it is elastic.

    • 6

Pin the pocket to the cloth just below the inside waist seam near the center left or right of the fly. Make sure that 4 inches of pocket is pinned to 4 inches of inside liner cloth.

    • 7

Stitch the pocket to the liner cloth with a cross stitch applied through the inside of the pocket, attaching it to the liner cloth. Close the zipper.
